Since April 1, family planning providers across Mississippi have been without essential funding from Title X (“ten”) to support access to health services, including birth control, STI testing and treatment, cancer screenings, and basic infertility counseling. Read news coverage of the withholding of Title X funds in Mississippi Today, May 5, 2025.
Why It Matters
Without crucial Title X support, clinics are scaling back services, freezing staff positions, and facing potential closures—all of which threatens health care access for thousands of people in need.
Call to Action
Tell Congress to call on HHS to release the Title X funds Mississippi desperately needs. Send a letter or place a call to your Representative and Senators today.
Sample Message:
I am writing/calling today to urge [Senator/Representative] [Last Name] to help restore Title X family planning funding for Converge, the sole Title X grantee in the state by advocating for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to release Title X funding that ensures access to critical family planning and reproductive health services.
It’s been nearly two months since HHS withheld Title X funding from Converge, and it has left the entire clinical network without the federal support they need to provide basic, lifesaving care like birth control, STI testing, and cancer screenings. Nearly all of the clinics in Converge’s network are Community Health Centers.
Share your personal story or information about your clinic.
The longer Title X funding is withheld, the more dire the situation becomes. We are calling on Congress to ask the Trump administration to release Title X funding so that family planning programs across Mississippi can continue to keep people and families healthy. Thank you for your time, and I hope you will stand up for access to essential reproductive health care.
