Converge’s Impact
Converge’s impact is broad and involves each part of the healthcare system–from provider to patient. As the Title X grantee for the state of Mississippi, Converge has developed a network of health clinics to connect low-income residents to quality family planning care.
Additionally, their patient access project, Personally, has helped increase patients’ health literacy and health care quality by connecting them to the information they need to make more informed decisions about their health.
On the provider side, Converge has trained 435 Mississippi health care professionals this past year in person-centered contraceptive care, and continues to increase the number of person-centered health care professionals through courses from
ConvergeConnect, which are informed by direct patient feedback. Converge has done great things this year, but there is still more work to be done to improve health care access in Mississippi.
Mississippi’s Needs
Mississippi ranks 49th out of 50 in terms of clinical care access, with 30% of residents living in a primary care desert and more than 208,000 Mississippi women with low incomes living in contraceptive deserts. This means that there are still thousands of Mississippians without access to the care they need to live healthy, fulfilling lives.
